Functions are the machines of mathematics, and in this lesson you will learn to drive them with confidence. You will explain what a function is, use both f(x) and mapping notation, and tell functions apart from non-functions with the vertical line test. You will find the domain and range of a function in simple cases, including the famous x-squared trap. Finally, you will sketch graphs of functions over a specified domain, ready for Paper 1.
