Graphs of sine, cosine & tangent

In this lesson you will build the graphs of sine, cosine and tangent from scratch, point by point, in both degrees and radians. You will learn what amplitude and period mean, and how the numbers a, b and c transform the graph of y = a sin(bx) + c. You will sketch y = 3cos(2x) − 1 like an examiner expects, and even work backwards from a given graph to its equation. By the end, you will also count solutions of equations like sin x = 0.5 straight off the graph.

- Sketch and use the graphs of the sine, cosine and tangent functions for angles of any size, in degrees or radians
- Find the amplitude and period, and sketch and interpret graphs of the form y = a sin(bx) + c, y = a cos(bx) + c and y = a tan(bx) + c
