Resistance to German rule, 1884–1915 & the genocide

Before South Africa, Namibia endured another coloniser — Germany. This is one of the most important, and most painful, chapters of our history. We'll see how and why Germany colonised Namibia through treaties and trickery, how its harsh rule turned Namibians against it, and the great risings of Hendrik Witbooi and of the Herero and Nama. And we'll study, with the seriousness it demands, the genocide of 1904–1908 — often called the first genocide of the twentieth century — and its lasting impact on our people.
