SWAPO, the liberation struggle & the achievement of independence

This is one of the proudest stories in all of Namibian history — the long road from petitions and a handful of fighters to the raising of our own flag on 21 March 1990. We will meet SWAPO and its armed wing PLAN, pause in respect at the solemn memory of Cassinga, weigh the forces working for and against independence, walk the diplomatic road to Resolution 435, and finish with the great exam question: what really won Namibia its freedom?
