HIV & AIDS in Namibia
HIV and AIDS is one of the most serious public-health challenges Namibia faces, and it shapes our population, our families and our economy. In this lesson we begin calmly and factually: what HIV and AIDS actually are, how the virus is — and is not — spread, and how to read Namibia's prevalence statistics and explain where the disease is most common. We then study its demographic and socio-economic impact, meet the many stakeholders working to fight it — government, local authorities, NGOs, churches, the private sector and individuals — and finish with the hopeful part: how prevention such as condom use and treatment with antiretroviral drugs change population growth, structure and the economy.
By the end you should be able to (NSSCO Geography 3.2):

- Interpret Namibia's HIV and AIDS statistics and account for its spatial distribution
