Advertising strategies & Team Namibia

Narrated lesson · press play

Think about the last thing you bought — a cool drink, airtime, a pair of shoes. How did you first hear about it? Someone, somehow, told you it existed. In this lesson we learn how an enterprise tells and persuades its customers, using effective advertising strategies — mass media, posters and leaflets, electronic advertising, word of mouth and sponsorship. We then learn how to compare them and choose the best for your own enterprise, and we meet Team Namibia, the 'buy local' campaign that can promote a Namibian business.

What you'll learn in this lesson

By the end you should be able to (NSSCO Entrepreneurship 2.2):

  • Explain and give examples of effective advertising strategies (mass media: television, radio, cinema, newspapers and magazines; posters and leaflets; electronic: company website, email and Internet advertising; word of mouth; sponsorship)
  • Compare different advertising strategies and choose the best option for their enterprises
  • Explain what Team Namibia is and what its aims are
  • Advise how Team Namibia can promote an enterprise
