Two small groups of words hold every sentence together — pronouns and prepositions. Pronouns are the handy stand-ins that stop us repeating names over and over, and prepositions are the tiny words that place everything in space and time. In this lesson Miss Veronica shows you how to tell a subject pronoun from an object one, fix the classic mistakes like 'Me and Tangeni went' and 'between you and I', sort out 'its' from 'it's', and place prepositions correctly — in, on, at — so your writing sounds clear and correct.
What you'll learn in this lesson

- Explain that a pronoun replaces a noun to avoid repetition, and identify pronouns in a sentence
- Distinguish subject pronouns from object pronouns and use each one correctly
- Use possessive and reflexive pronouns correctly, and tell 'its' apart from 'it's'
- Correct common pronoun errors such as 'Me and Tangeni went' and 'between you and I'
- Explain that a preposition shows position, direction or time, and use prepositions of place correctly
- Apply the in / on / at rule for prepositions of time
- Correct common preposition errors such as 'married with', 'good in', 'listen the radio', 'arrive to' and 'depend of'
