What happens when the rain and the wind carry our precious topsoil away? In this lesson we meet the four types of water erosion — splash, sheet, rill and gully — plus wind erosion of our sandy soils. Then we learn the many ways a careful farmer protects the land: plant cover, contour ploughing, terraces, cover crops, windbreaks, humus and never overgrazing.
