Plant growth: conditions, diffusion, osmosis & roots

On a hot afternoon a young maize plant droops as if it is dying — yet by evening, after a good watering, it stands firm and green again. How? In this lesson we meet the six conditions a plant needs to grow, follow water and dissolved minerals as they enter the root by diffusion and osmosis, discover the clever little root hair, and finally explain that daily miracle of wilting and recovery through turgor and plasmolysis.
